8th Grade Orientations

HJUHSD invites parents of incoming freshmen to an Orientation to learn more about our high schools, courses and programs, including academic and vocational programs, graduation requirements and registration process, as well as clubs, activities and athletic teams.

Hanford High School

We are looking forward to meeting you at our Freshman Orientation on Monday, January 27 at the Stratton L. Tarvin Presentation Center located on the west side of the Hanford High School campus off of Douty Street. Please park in the Douty Street parking lot and walk south towards the Presentation Center. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m. We have an exciting night planned for students and parents. Included in this packet you will find a door prize / raffle ticket to turn in on Orientation Night. This raffle ticket will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of several prizes, including Hanford High School gear, dinner tickets, etc. Following the presentation, we will have a “Meet and Greet/Showcase” in our cafeteria. Counselors and Freshman teachers will be available to answer any questions you may have. Our elective teachers (band, choir, FFA, ASB), athletic coaches, extra-curricular advisors, and students will provide demonstrations and information showcasing the many opportunities Hanford High School offers for students.

Following the orientation, counselors will be delivering a short presentation regarding information about our Honors/AP programs to current parents and students in the cafeteria beginning at 7 pm. We will be providing students and parents with the Honors/AP Course Contracts. Students will be asked to complete these contracts with teacher recommendations throughout the registration process prior to being registered for any honors or AP classes. The deadline for completion is March 30.
