LCAP draft plan ready for community review


The draft of the first HJUHSD Local Control and Accountability Plan is now available for review.

Hanford FFA Bunny Hop 5K is May 10

Please join us for the Hanford FFA Bunny Hop 5K May 10 at Sierra Pacific High School!

Registration: 7:30 a.m. -8 am
Race Start: 8:30am

Pre-registration $25 (includes a t-shirt for the first 200 people)
Day-of Registration $40

Prizes will be awarded to the top three overall racers and the top three male and female racers in each age division. Light Breakfast will be provided after the race to all who participated. Hamburgers and water will also be for sale.

All proceeds support the Hanford FFA program and its students.

HHS Presents "Annie" May 1-4

The Hanford High School Drama Club will present Annie May 1-4 at the Stratton L. Tarvin Presentation Center.

This dynamic production features a live orchestra and 50 talented dancers and singers and the "orphan" cast members are students from Hanford elementary schools.

Families and community members are invited to watch the large cast of students tap and sing the iconic songs everyone knows and loves.

Showtimes are 7 p.m. May 1, 2 and 3 and 2 p.m. May 3 and 4. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for students.

Volunteer Opportunity: Senior Ethics Table Leaders needed!

Local business and community volunteers are invited to the Hanford Joint Union High School District 2014 Senior Ethics Workshops.

The Senior Ethics worskshops are designed to guide students through structured discussions of real-world values, ethics and decision-making.

All seniors from each Hanford high school - Hanford High, Hanford West High, Sierra Pacific High, Earl F. Johnson High and alternative education programs - participate in one of the one-day workshops as a whole group with break-out activities and discussions in smaller groups. Community volunteer "Table Leaders" help facilitate these break-out discussions with groups of 6-7 students.

More than 60 volunteers are needed for each workshop.

The workshops will be from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 29, May 1 and May 2 at Koinonia Hall, Hanford.

"Pressure Cooker Parenting" - a free conference for Kings County parents!

Kings County parents are invited to "Pressure Cooker Parenting", the 2014 Kings Partnership for Prevention Spring Conference, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at The Learning Center at Koinonia Christian Fellowship.

This free conference for parents, foster parents, and guardians will include topics such as "Raising Your Kids a Digital Age", "Stress Management" and "Nurturing their Passion".

Lunch and childcare will be provided and Spanish translation is available with advance notice.

Lady Bears host Golf Tournament Fundraiser May 10

The Sierra Pacific High School Lady Bears Golf Team will host a fundraiser golf tournament May 10 at the Lemoore Golf Course.

The $75 entry fee includes green fees, a cart and lunch. There will be cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize teams and a raffle.

Hole Sponsorship is still available: $100 will feature your business name on a sign near the green of the hole you sponsor. Prize donations are also being accepted.
