Don't Forget: Immunization Requirements

Don't Forget!

All HJUHSD students need a Tdap booster shot before the next school year.
  • See your Doctor for a Tdap booster shot.
  • Bring your updated immunization record to your school to ensure a smooth registration process

All California 7th through 12th grade students are now required to get a Tdap booster shot before starting the 2011-2012 school year. The Tdap vaccination protects against Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Whooping Cough (Pertussis). (For 2012-13 and beyond, only students entering 7th grade will need proof of a Tdap shot.)

The other recommended vaccines for 7th through 12th graders are: Meningococcal Meningitis, Chicken Pox (Varicella), Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Seasonal Flu.

Children should visit their health care provider to get their shots. Children 18 years old and younger who are uninsured or underinsured may qualify for the Vaccines for Children Program to get free or low cost immunization services. To find a provider near you, call 1-877-243-8832 or visit: www.eziz.org/pages/vfc_locations2.html. Some local pharmacies and Health Departments may also offer vaccines.

For more information, please see this packet or visit ShotsForSchool.org.

HHS Presents "Little Shop of Horrors"

The Hanford High School Drama Department will present Little Shop of Horrors May 5 through 7 at the Stratton L. Tarvin Presentation Center. Performances begin at 7 p.m.

This bizarre musical satirizes science fiction and horror films of the 1960’s and is influenced by the 1960’s Motown and Doo Wop music. The musical’s protagonist, Seymour Krelborn, is a hapless worker at Mrs. Mushnik’s Skid Row Florist Shop. By chance, Seymour stumbles upon a strange and interesting plant that he names Audrey II. Seymour’s strange and interesting new plant is just what Mushnik’s Skid Row Florist Shop needs to keep the Floral Shop in business. Overnight, Seymour finds success, fame and money. Most importantly, Seymour finds a way into the heart of his unrequited love, Audrey, his co-worker at the Floral Shop. But, to Seymour’s chagrin, he must come up with a peculiar way to feed Audrey II, which wilts and dies if not fed ... human blood! Will Seymour get the girl? Will he give in to temptation and feed Audrey II? Will Seymour risk losing the girl and destroying everything he hoped for? Come and see what Hanford High Drama has in store!
