HHS collects for "Santa for Seniors" at Milk Can Game

Hanford High School is "competing" against Lemoore High School in more than one way tonight.

The athletic rivals will face off in the traditional Milk Can Football Game tonight. But, off the field, students will also be competing - to see who can raise the most money for Santa for Seniors.

Santa for Seniors will use the funds raised to buy necessary items for local senior citizens in retirement and convalescent homes.

As part of this good-natured competition, Hanford High ASB will collect change from fans at the Milk Can Game.

Last year, HHS extended the collection drive to the school day before the big game and it was a huge success, netting more than $1300 in all for the charity.

This year, ASB "elves" will make their rounds again during 5th period of the school day to collect spare change for Santa for Seniors. Many HHS staff members are also donating $5 each for the privilege of wearing jeans to work today.

Tonight, Milk Can Game fans will have a similar opportunity to use their spare change to help make the holidays happier for local seniors. Donations will be accepted through the middle of the second quarter and the school who raises the most money will be announced as the "winner" at half-time.

Thanks in advance for your support!
